Our parents all had them: inexplicable tchochkes, tacky knick-knacks, gifts from Aunt Gladys they just had to display. The following pictures document these childhood mysteries.   Janice is the Original Bad Tiki. You can read more about her here. Janice T-shirts and other paraphernalia is available in the Bad Tiki Store. Meet Shitiki, he lives with my friend Ryan. (Ryan, or as we now call him, Massive Head Wound Harry, is still working on Shitiki's biography.)

This jaunty gnome lives with my friend Holly. Very little is known about this gnome, other than the fact that he is owned by Holly's neighbor and is made of ceramic. I don't believe he is a Norwegian gnome, as I believe they tend to have rounder hats. Once the Gallery has a larger collection, I may present a retrospective of gnomes and do some formal research. Until now, let's just call him Unnamed Jaunty Gnome.
This is Bernard, he is Janice's boon companion on my bookshelf. My parents bought him for me for very little moeny in a quest to find me the tackiest thing in all of Hawaii. I think they failed their mission, but I still have no idea what Bernard is supposed to be. He has a small, flat tail which makes me think he may be a beaver. He may also be a pig, a monkey or some sort of god. The mystery is half the fun.

My friend Coleman recently obtained Ku, God of Power. I don't think Ku is particularly bad, but he is bad-ass.
The irrepressible Lois Lane submitted this mystery object. We have no idea what it is, what it does or where it came from. It may be a toothpick holder or perhaps it has some more sinister purpose. It's an enigma. Scroll over the picture to deepen the mystery.

I inherited Gnome from my grandmother. She claimed that he was very Norwegian and always referred to him as "Nissin". I just call him Gnome and love him very much since he reminds me of my Gaga. You can purchase your Gnome merchandise in the Bad Tiki Store.
