Episode Guide

Season One

Pilot. After being kicked out of their retirement home
for excessive partying, Sully (Abe Vigoda) and Phil (Edward Asner) move in to Shady Oaks and start turning the place on its ear. While Nurse Betty (Sally Struthers) tries to maintain order, the residents warm to Sully’s care-free attitude. Meanwhile, Phil catches the eye of a merry widow named Dottie (Frances Sternhagen).

Forget Me Not. In a very special episode of Dude, Where’s My Rascal, Sully (Abe Vigoda) falls for Agnes (Guest Star Shelley Winters) but worries when she keeps forgetting their dates. Phil and Dottie (Ed Asner, Frances Sternhagen) tell him to keep his distance, but Sully is in love. Nurse Betty (Sally Struthers) must finally teach the gang a heart-breaking lesson.

Three For the Road. Seeing an opportunity, Phil steals his son’s van and takes Dottie and Sully on a wild 45 mph road trip. But when the car breaks down at a scenic viewpont, only Dottie’s feminine wiles can save them from a State Trooper (John Ritter) who wants to know what's in the glove box.

The Doctor's Office. Sully, Phil and Dottie are trapped in a doctor's office, waiting for their colonscopies. When Sully (Abe Vigoda) agonizes over a bad date the night before, Dottie (Frances Sternhagen)finds a tissue issue in the ladies restroom. And the nurse can’t seem to pronounce Phil's (Ed Asner) name.

The Competition. In a ribald outing for the septuagenarian sitcom, the gang makes an onanistic wager. But when Dottie (Frances Sternhagen) has a close encounter with Tony Franciosa, it becomes a heated match between Sully and Phil (Abe Vigoda and Edward Asner).

The Kids Are All Right . Sully (Abe Vigoda) is distressed to learn that his grandson (Guest Star Barry Watson) has joined the Young Republicans. Phil and Dottie (Ed Asner and Frances Sternhagen) also face a visit form their kids, who are none to happy about their relationship. Wayne Knight and Brenda Strong also star.

It's Hot In Herre. Hip-Hop star Nelly pays a visit to Shady Oaks is this hilarious outing. When the cantankerous Grady (Bill Cobbs) gets bad news about his health, Sully and Phil (Abe Vigoda and Edward Asner) convince his grandson to make amends with the man before it's too late. Meanwhile, Dottie (Frances Sternhagen) and Nurse Betty (Sally Struthers) compete against each other in an all night Mahjongg tourney.

She's Still the Sheriff. While on a road trip to Dollywood, Sully and Phil (Abe Vigoda and Edward Asner) run afoul of the local Sheriff (Suzanne Sommers) and must spend a night in a backwoods jail. There, they teach the inmates Canasta while they wait for Dottie and Nurse Betty (Frances Sternhagen and Sally Struthers) to bail them out. George Wyner also guests as Deputy Max Rubin.

Doobies and Dreidel. It's Chanukah at Shady Oaks, and that can mean only two things: Gefilte fish and weed. While Nurse Betty (Sally Struthers) tries to put a damper on the festivities, Phil (Ed Asner) and Dottie (Frances Sternhagen) reach a new milestone in their relationship. Meanwhile, Sully (Abe Vigoda) teaches some visiting schoolchildren about the Festival of Lights.

It's a Wonderful Assisted Living Community. When Sully (Abe Vigoda) loses the homes bingo prizes in a snowstorm, he becomes convinced that everything he touches he destroys. An mysterious man (Jim Breuer) arrives to show him exactly what Shady Oaks would be like without him. Among other things, it features a despondent Phil (Ed Asner) and a power-mad Nurse Betty (Sally Struthers).

Dude, Where's My Rascal? In the original, unaired pilot Sully and Phil (Abe Vigoda and Edward Asner) wander through a shopping mall looking for their misplaced personal mobility device. Their quest is thwarted by a mentally unbalanced Clinique Girl (Sarah Rue), a security gurad with a vendetta (Richard Riehle) and a personal shopper (Brenda Strong) with her sights on world domination.

Animal Lust. As the residents of Shady Oaks prepare for their annual Presidents' Day trip to Zoo, Sully (Abe Vigoda) and Phil (Edward Asner) plot to ditch the tour for a trip to an adult bookstore. But, when the run into Nurse Betty (Sally Struthers) in the backroom, no one can escape with their dignity.

The Painted Desert. Dottie (Frances Sternhagen) is diagnosed with Glaucoma and thus given a very potent prescription. After a night of partying with Sully and Phil (Abe Vigoda and Edward Asner), they find themselves in Tucson with no idea how they got there or how to get home. Luckily, guest star Phyllis Diller is there to help.

A New Man. After they are both forgotten by the staff in the back of the activity van, Dottie (Frances Sternhagen) and Sully (Abe Vigoda) discover a deep connection. But, when she returns to her boyfriend, Phil (Ed Asner), the feelings continue for Sully. After consulting with Nurse Betty (Sally Struthers), Sully makes an agonizing decision to follow his heart. BUt will he remember to do it in the morning?

In Da Hizzouse. As Sully (Abe Vigoda) debates telling Dottie (Frances Sternhagen) about his feelings, Phil (Ed Asner) is paid a visit by his old dealer, Tiberius (Snoop Dogg) who needs a big favor involving a trip to Mexico. Meanwhile, Nurse Betty (Sally Struthers) clashes with the ward's new helper monkey.

Roach Clips. When Sully's (Abe Vigoda) friend brings a little something back from a trip to Humboldt County, the gang partakes then reminisces about their past adventures. Clips from previous episodes will be shown. Edward Asner, Frances Sternhagen and Sally Struthers also star.

The Beginning. Seth Green and Breckin Meyer guest star as Sully (Abe Vigoda) and Phil (Edward Asner) reminisce about how they first met and their first sweet sweet taste of green heaven. Meanwhile, Dottie (Frances Sternhagen) and Nurse Betty (Sally Struthers) engage in a battle of wills over the wearing of adult diapers.

The End, Part One. Phil (Ed Asner) asks Dottie (Frances Sternhagen) to marry him and they discuss leaving Shady Oaks together. Sully decides he must work feverishly to stop the wedding lest he lose both his best friend and the girl he secretly loves. Meanwhile, Nurse Betty struggles to train the new nurse (Guest Star Cheri Oteri) who insists on speaking in rhyme.

The End, Part Two. Their nuptials interrupted by Sully's declaration of love, Phil and Dottie struggle to figure out their relationship. Reeling from Dottie's rejection, Sully seeks solace in arms of comely new resident Florence (Phyllis Diller). But when Nurse Betty accidentally enjoys some of Sully's secret stash, the lives at Shady Oaks may change forever.

Season Two

Craftwork. After deciding to take a break due to their interrupted nuptials, Phil and Dottie (Ed Asner and Frances Sternhagen) are dismayed to find themselves trapped together when the activity van breaks down on the way to the mall. Sully and Florence (Abe Vigoda and Phyllis Diller) debate whether to take their relationship to the next level. And everyone is terrified when a high-as-a-kite Nurse Betty (Sally Struthers) is put in charge of their weekly craft lesson. Hot glue has never been so hilarious!
