February Update
Okay, so those updates to BTN never did happen. And here’s why: it is becoming harder and harder to make fun of television networks. They seem to have entered into a period of self parody. Case in point: Acording to Zap2It, Sherilyn Fenn (Oh, Audrey!) has signed on to star in an update of Mr. Ed. If that were not bad enough, the horse in this version is said to have an “urban” flair. I will never in my life come up with anything as stupid or as risible as a jive-talking horse. So, uncle. RIP Bad Tiki Network. Thanks to all who enjoyed it. And it will stick around in the archives forever.
As for the rest of my life, I haven’t spent much time updating the site. There are many reasons, most of which I did not want to speak about here. (Nothing bad). Scott and I are doing very well after our first year together. We’re discussing all sorts of long term plans but having trouble zeroing in on exactly what we want. Once we have found the happy medium between my Commitment Luau and exchanging rings between commercials of America’s Next Top Model, I’ll let you know. But, basically, we’re engaged to be whatever word we’re using instead of “married”. (Maybe I should follow Dan Savage’s "santorum: lead and call him my “W” or my “Cheney” or “The Log In My Eye”.) So, yeah, things going well on the relationship front. I found a keeper.
On the professional front, the main reason I stopped writing BTN updates was because my writing partner and were working on a sitcom pilot and series bible and it was hard telling between the funny ideas for a real show and the funny ideas for a fake, ridiculous show. We’re working on contracts with some freelance producers now and hope to be shopping the project to production companies very soon. We’re quite excited about it I’ll share more info with you as it progresses.
Well, that’s about it. Just wanted to drop a quick update. As the presidential election heats up, expect lots of political rants. Right now Kerry is pissing me when, every time someone refers to him as a liberal, he immediately says “That’s unfair” and talks about his work with faith-based charities. When did liberal become a slander? And why is conservative perfectly aceptable? Gah.
So, hope all of my readers (hi, Eric) are doing well. I’ll write again soon.
